Because CC-DOS used special text fonts to represent symbols and used layer numbers, importing CC-DOS files is not simply a matter of opening the files as CC-DOS files using OPEN. Some preparation in CC-DOS is needed first.
If you have CC-Fonts 1
CC-Fonts 1 users can now use their fonts in CC3. If you want CC3 to show these fonts, however:
Copy any FNT files from your DOS directory to your CC3 directory
If you have CC-Pro, copy your DOS fcad.cfg file over any fcad3.cfg file in your CC3 directory
If you do not have CC-Pro copy your DOS ecad.cfg file over fcad3.cfg in your CC3 directory..
Preparing CC-DOS drawings for export
If you want your CC-DOS symbols converted into lines and arcs:
You don’t need to perform the following steps with maps created solely in CC-Pro or other add-ons.
Make sure that the file UPDATE.EXE has been copied from your CC3 directory to your CC-DOS directory
Copy any files that you want to update into your CC-DOS directory.
At the DOS prompt in your CC-DOS directory, type UPDATE then press ENTER.
Follow the instructions on screen
If you get the following error "Can’t find CTFON.FNT" or similar
Delete all copies of ECAD.CFG or FCAD.CFG except the one in your CC-DOS directory
Start CC-DOS
Type CONFIGF. If there is an entry for CTFON.FNT change it to MAP.FNT.
Save the configuration
Redo "Preparing CC-DOS drawings for export"
Importing
Select File>Open.
Select Files of type > CC-DOS FCD files
Select the CC-DOS file to open
Save the map
If your are importing multiple maps use the Convert Files command
Finishing Up
Select a template using File>Template similar in size to the CC-DOS map.
Select New.
Select Options>Preferences and uncheck "Group Parts on Insertion"
Select Insert > Insert Part. Select the saved CC-DOS map. Scale by 1, rotate by 0; insert at 0,0, press the right button.
Change Layer, select by layer, to move the CC-DOS entities from their CC-DOS layers to the new ones
