Click the Symbols menu and select Sort Symbols in Map.
When you add new symbols to a map, they appear on top of existing ones. If you are creating mountain ranges or forests, you usually build them up from the north to the south. This means that if you wish to add new symbols in amongst the old ones, they will not appear correctly. Sort Symbols in Map will deal with most instances of this.
